Grayell B. Pursell

	Grayell B. Pursell, age 90, of Pinckneyville, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at 4:25 a.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit.
	Grayell was born November 30, 1910 in Pinckneyville, the son of Perry and Lena Caroline (Birkner) Pursell.  He married Roberta Bigham on September 18, 1932 in Pinckneyville and she survives.  He retired as a welder after 40 years, having worked at Pyramid Coal Co. and the Southwestern Coal Co.  Grayell was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Pinckneyville and for many years was a church trustee and a Sunday School superintendent.  He was also a member of the United Mine Workers of America and Mitchell Lodge 85 AF-AM of Pinckneyville.
	Survivors include his wife Roberta of Pinckneyville; three daughters, Patricia A. Place and husband Gene of Pinckneyville, Shirley Y. Carson and husband JOhn of Brentwood, Calif. and Betty J. Presswood of Pinckneyville; a sister, Hazel Miller of Florissant, Mo.; six grandchildren, Londa Campbell and husband John, Tim Place and wife Lori, Amy Place, Paige Brewer and husband Tom, Joy Ramsey and husband Fred and Patti Peterson and husband Rob and 13 great-grandchildren.
	He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Leonard, Arthur, Albert and one in infancy and three sisters, Bessie Buckner, Myrna Buckner and Elizabeth Trefts.
	 Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 24 in the First Apostolic Church in Pinckneyville at 11 a.m. with Pastor Leonard Glover officiating.  Interment was in Mueller Hill Cemetery at Pinckneyville.
	Visitation was held at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 to 10:30 a.m.
	 Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or the Pinckneyville Hospital Skilled Care Unit.
